The latest figures, from a survey of 2,706 UK mobile phone customers, show that pay-as-you-go mobile phone calls have dropped 28.5 per cent and contract mobile phone calls have fallen 23 per cent.
That’s a drop in the average number of weekly mobile phone calls made by pre-pay customers from 14 in 2006 to 10, and for those on contract a fall from 35 in 2006 to 27 in 2007.
The 10th annual survey also found that the average number of text messages has stayed the same as last year at 27 for pre-pay customers, but has shot up by almost 44 per cent for contract customers – from 32 to 46.
